From Berlin to the World: L’Atitude 52°N Brings Its Smart Glasses Back to IFA

After an award-winning IFA debut in 2025, L’Atitude 52°N returned to Berlin in 2026 with the next chapter of the Departure Collection: the newly launched MILAN frame, more natural live translation, and new Goya AI experiences designed around discovery.

During the IFA Opening Tour, L'Atitude 52°N was selected as one of a group of exhibitors visited by federal and Berlin city officials, including Stefan Evers, Deputy Mayor of Berlin. At the L'Atitude 52°N booth in IFA Next, the delegation had the chance to see some of the Departure Collection's key features demonstrated in person.

Live Translation

One of the key features demonstrated at the L'Atitude 52°N booth was Live Translation, which Stefan Evers tried in real time with the team during the IFA Opening Tour. The feature is designed for moments when a language barrier arises but reaching for a phone would interrupt the flow of conversation. The wearer hears translated speech through the glasses’ open-ear speakers, helping both people remain present and engaged. The L’Atitude 52°N app can also display the translation on screen and speak a translated response aloud in the other language, allowing a conversation to continue without repeatedly passing a phone between speakers. Antonello Buzzi from Tom’s Hardware Italia described it best: “It's a paradigm shift from traditional smartphone translation, which often forces people to look at a screen instead of into the eyes of those in front of them.”

A city like Berlin provides plenty of opportunities for that kind of interaction. A question in a shop, a conversation over dinner or a few words exchanged with someone you have just met can all move more freely when translation happens while you are still looking at one another.

Exploring with Goya AI

Visitors to the L'Atitude 52°N booth also had the chance to spend time with Goya AI, trying features designed around curiosity, travel and everyday discovery. The experience was simple: put on the glasses, look around, ask a question and hear Goya respond through the open-ear speakers. It gave visitors an immediate sense of how easily Goya could fit into the way they explore.

They also saw how Goya AI can become an AI Tour Guide for cities, museums and other places worth a closer look, recognizing landmarks, artworks and places of interest before providing spoken context. With a simple “Hey Goya,” or a discreet long press gesture, visitors could ask questions about samples around the booth and hear the answers through the glasses, giving them a first-hand sense of how useful and understated the feature can feel in practice. Information is there when it is useful, then moves back into the background.

BERLIN, MILAN and a New Look at the Frames

Design also caught the attention of the media walking the IFA floor. BGR wrote that “what sets L'Atitude apart is its trendy design,” highlighting the collection's focus on eyewear style alongside its smart features.

The Departure Collection now offers two distinct ways to wear L'Atitude 52°N. BERLIN Frames use a bold navigator silhouette with a stronger urban character, while MILAN Frames take a softer panto shape influenced by classic eyewear and everyday versatility. The technology remains consistent across both, leaving the choice to begin with shape, proportion and personal style.

L'Atitude 52°N also previewed a smaller design concept for evolving the appearance of the frames. A magnetic attachment can support an external shell, offering a potential way to change frame colour and styling without replacing the underlying eyewear. The concept adds another design possibility without changing what BERLIN and MILAN are at their core. Someone can choose the silhouette that suits them first, then potentially have another way to adapt its appearance later.

Exploring What Comes Next

The next phase of the Departure Collection is taking shape around simple moments: speaking with someone across a language difference, understanding a place that has caught your attention, or capturing something before it disappears.

Berlin has been part of L'Atitude 52°N from the very beginning. After an award-winning debut in 2025, IFA 2026 marked another step forward, showing how smart eyewear can become less about the technology itself and more about what it enables: to stay present, understand more and experience the world without looking down at a screen.
